Combatting Anti-LGBTQ Stigma

On Wednesday was a fun event in which Clare Forstie from the Doyle Center came and discussed with us the anti-LGBTQ stigma in our world and how we can fight it. We used personal experiences and other examples to help us find ways to combat harsh language that the LGBTQ community hears.

The big letters in the picture have positive adjectives that can be used to describe anyone part of the LGBTQ community and its allies. What I think everyone realized is that there are so many positive words out there that we should be using instead of the negative ones you hear in the media.

If you want to know more about the LGBTQ community, visit Clare’s office in the Doyle Center in Warner. Go to an Alliance meeting. And if you hear someone bashing or using inappropriate language to describe the LGBTQ community and its allies, stand up and tell that person it’s not okay if they do that.
